Quilts

I think I told you awhile ago that I made quilts for my new nieces and nephew. Well I didn't post them at that time because they were gifts and I didn't want my sisters to see the finished projects before they were done. Well they have since received the package and so I can post them now.

This one is for my nephew Drew (my sister Sally's boy). He was born last June and I am just now getting it done (usually I give it to them for their first Christmas). Anyway, I saw this Debbie Mumm material and KNEW I had to have it. You see my BIL Max (Drew's daddy) has in his profile at his work (he is a public speaker) "ran from a grizzly bear in Yellowstone Park". So I saw this adorable material and thought it would be perfect for Max's son! I must say I think this is my very favorite quilt that I have ever made!
This one is for AnLi (my sister Sally's girl that they just adopted from China!!!). The inside is just that same yellow color (no stars, so I didn't fold the corner down). I think it is very cute, but no story behind it! lol

I am so glad that the kids enjoy them. I am going to do my best to get a pic of all the quilts I have made for my nieces and nephews. I never even thought of taking pictures of them until these three (yes there is one more that I did at this time, but I FORGOT to take the pic of it before I sealed the box to be mailed! lol So my other sis Bonnie is supposed to take the pic for me. If not, I will get them myself when I go visit in July! lol)

A Bit of This and A Bit of That by Cazzie Scraps

So Cazzie, sent me this kit a few weeks ago and I told her I would get it done last week and the unzipping was still taking over my life. Soooooo, this week I made sure I got to it for her. I saw so many parts and wasn't sure where the page would lead me. So I looked some more and noticed the wrench. As soon as I saw that I knew I could use the tools to scrap these pictures.

What I did at the crop today 052909

Yes I am finally done unzipping so now I can scrap again!!! lol So with that said we did a speed scrap today. Here are the instructions:

1. Select 3 pictures
2. Select 2 papers...one striped and one polka dot
3. Resize 2 pictures to no more than 3X3. The third can be any size
4. Add Greenery...no flowers
5. Duplicate one of your papers and use it as a mat or frame for one picture
6. Frame one picture with an element but make sure it is not a perfect fit
7. Add a tag with your title and attach it with a string...you can add another element to the string if you wish

Okay so I cheated big time on the papers! lol I was totally going to use another kit and when I went in to download it I realized that the links had already expired (it was a kit I paid for!!!! I was so mad at myself, but I didn't download right away because I was unzipping the stuff forever and now that I am done I was going to go in to do it! I am sooooo ticked. I have emailed the store to see if I can have it reactivated since they can clearly see I did not download it.) Anyway, so I had to choose another kit and make it work the best I could. So here it is. The words are the "stripes" and the mickey hats are the "polka dots" ROFL!!!

Also yesterday and today I finished making the Chinese take out boxes (Kung Fu Panda) for DS's birthday party tomorrow. Here is what the looked like when I started (well actually there was paper all the way around it. I printed it on my printer and then cut it out! lol)

Here is what the look like completed. Well without the handle. That is the part I finished today.

Then I filled it with those little playdohs that they had for Halloween (I had left overs), a little box of raisins and some tootsie rolls. I also have those little splash balls, but because these boxes are quite small I will let them use them in the Splash Park at the party and then everyone will get to take one home! Great idea, thanks Tara!! :-) (One of the other moms from the school helped me today.)

Here it is totally complete, handle and all. All filled with the goodies!

Yep another speed scrap! lol Sometimes you do these and aren't totally loving the LO (which I am not sure if I do with this one), but typically you at least LEARN something new, OR end up thinking outside the box on how to make a LO. So with that said I have seen the black and white photos with just one thing colored on it, but I didn't know how and had never taken the time to find out. This speed scrap forced me to learn and in a hurry and let me tell you this was an awesome and easy tutorial! :-) Glad I participated in this one (even if I don't totally love it.)

So here are the steps:
1. Choose two patterned papers and one solid paper. Place the solid paper as your background.
2. Choose one photo. We are gonna do selective coloring on this photo (if you are not sure how to do this, then visit this tutorial: http://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/photography/articles/9796.aspx). Choose the part of the photo you want to leave colored and then turn the rest of the photo black and white (feel free to play with blending modes and filters and whatnot to spice up the black and white).
3. Shape the patterned papers into ONE CIRCLE and ONE SQUARE or RECTANGLE and place them on your layout in a position where they are touching in some way.
4. Once you have your photo just the way you like it, duplicate it at LEAST ONCE (feel free to duplicate it as many times as you like). Then place the photo's on your layout (these can be touching or not, your choice).
5. Use any elements you want to frame at least one of your photos. You can use anything but a frame. It doesn’t have to be all the way around the photo(s) but at least on TWO sides.
6. Add five elements to your page, but make sure one is at least partway behind the circle. You may duplicate those five elements as many times as you like.
7. Title your layout using ONE word (or name). Add journaling and date if you like.

What I did at the crop and another speed scrap

Today at the crop I was REALLY hoping to finish unzipping all my files. Alas that did not happen. I did get a good bit of it done, but definitely not as much as I like. I had several errands to run and things to do (see post below for one of them). So yeah. Anyway, some more girls wanted to try a speed scrap so we did another one on our crop!

Here are the instructions:
1. Choose 3 papers! 1-for Background 1- for matting and one additional
2. Choose one photo - only one and mat it with one of your papers. Photo should take up 1/4 -1/3 of your page
3. Create a shape of some sort out of your third piece of paper
4. Use 5 pieces of ribbon - (doesn't have to be 5 different types, just 5 pieces) and arrange them on your page
5. Choose one element and use it 4 times (recoloring is ok!)
6. Journal one line and shape it to your shaped 3rd paper
7. Add a title and Finishing touches, then upload it!!

Except I changed the order of 1 and 2 so it would be easier on the girls. lol Can't wait to see everyone else's page! Here is mine:

Tye's birthday card

I made Tye's birthday invitation with a combination of PSE and the HP website! (Don't mind the watermark, to convert it from pdf to jpg we had to download this program that put a watermark on it...in the end we couldn't use it to have it printed really nice at walmart. I had to print it out home, so the colors aren't quite as vibrant, but I still think it turned out great!)

SS #4 for me

Today I was able to participate in another speed scrap. You don't think I like them do you???? lol It all worked out again. So here are the instructions:

STEP 1- Choose 1 picture. Feel free to resize it so it’s smaller. Convert it to either back and white or sepia.
STEP 2- Pick 5 papers. 1 should be solid, the other 4 should be patterned.
STEP 3- Make the solid paper your background. Cut the patterned papers into strips and layer them behind your photo.
STEP 4- Frame your photo and add embellishments. Keep it simple. (Only use a few elements)
STEP 5- Choose a one word title. Title your layout using an alpha.
STEP 6- Date your layout using a tag or label.
STEP 7- Add drop shadows. You may journal if you’d like, but it’s not required.
