Craft Room Project--Magnets

Okay they are kindof hard to see, but I think you can see well enough. The one on the top is a butterfly and blue flower. The one on the bottom left is a ladybug and yellow flower. The one on the bottom right is my initial M. They are cute (I just don't follow directions very well...Amy said to get CLEAR marbles. I guess I didn't realize she meant clear in color...I told her I can see "clear" through mine! ROFL)
Click on the picture to see it better.

Thanks Amy, these are so cute and I will be buying some more "clear colored" marbles and some more magnets in the next couple of days! :-)

Peace on Earth by Bits N Bobs

Bits N Bobs has put out a Christmas themed kit, because not all of us are caught up! lol I know I rarely scrap the picture in the month that I actually take them in! lol It is called Peace on Earth. There were so many elements, I didn't even use a fraction of them.

Here is the preview:

And here is what I did with the kit. :-)

Fashion Diva by Scraps N Pieces

Today Scraps N Pieces has a new kit out called Fashion Diva. I did not work with this kit, wonder why?! lol Since you all know I have a daughter or am such a fashionable person! lol I think it could be used for all sorts of girlie things and could even probably be used for boy stuff, but for me it would be a stretch! lol

Anyway, if you have girls, or are a girlie girl yourself, this kit is PERFECT for you!!! I love the elements, it made me think of the Girlfriends' Getaway place we stayed at last year for our scrapbook retreat. All sort of PINK! :-) Very cute!

So head on over to Stuff to Scrap and pick up this kit for $2.50 the first week!

Recent cards

I have been a busy bee making cards for everyone's birthdays this year. Here are the recent ones I have made.

For my nephew Kendrick, who is Tye's best friend, and a fellow car/truck/train lover.

These cards are for the twins, Kenden (card on the left) and MarleeAnn (card on the right) since their whole family are HUGE Disney fans!

For my friend Vi

For my nephew, Drew. It was especially perfect since we had just returned from Disney!

This was for Tye's teacher. I am not sure if I posted it with the altered clipboard I made for her or not. But here it is again if I did! lol

The card I made from my friend Karrilee

The father's day card I made for Kevin, that is really Tye's footprint!

And this is the ADORABLE Skunk card I made for my sister, Bonnie. When we were younger she was in a dance group and their costume was a skunk. So from then on my dad always called her Skunk. I saw this on the Create A Critter cricut cart and had to have it. I think the card turned out cute. Maybe I should have put it on red or pink cardstock though, but oh well! lol

So there are the latest cards I have made.

Speed Scrap #151 at STS

Today I totally forgot about the speed scrap at STS until 2:48! At least you get the extra hour after to complete the LO. Problem was when I went to upload it the gallery gave me some "warning" lol. Not sure what was going on. Still need to try to upload.

Anyway here are the instructions:
1. You need 2 papers. 1 patterned and 1 plain. and 2 photos from the same event.
2. Layer your papers plain on top of patterned so that both are visible.
3. Place photos on half of your layout, side by side on the top or bottom half. The photos should not be touching and should be the same height, different widths is OK.
4. Use stitching 4 times on your layout.
5. Layer a textural element (beads, glitter, mesh etc) under your photos and a ribbon and a string under or touching your photos.
6. Make a cluster of at least 1 element and 1 string-like element in a corner on the opposite side from the photos.
7. Give your layout a title, journal and date if you like and shadows.

And here is my LO!

On This Day by Scraps N Pieces

Scraps N Pieces has another gorgeous kit out! As soon as I saw it I knew I was going to dig into my vault of old family photos that my sister gave us a CD of for Christmas (Thanks Lou!) It is of course a wedding kit, BUT it can be used for some much more. If you go to Lori's blog you can see what some of the other CT members have done and only one other person did actual wedding pictures! Lori even did camping pictures with it! Can you believe that?! lol She is amazing! It is great for vintage pictures (or at least what you want to look like vintage pictures) like Heidi made hers. A great kit! Here is the preview. It also includes 13 LDS temples.

Here are the pages I created of my sister's wedding. (Kindof appropriate to be posting this today as it is her birthday! Happy Birthday Bon!)

So head on over to Stuff to Scrap to purchase this kit for $2.50 the first week. And if you use code OTDcsFREE you can get the cardstock for free. What a deal!!!!

What I got done at the crop 07/09/10

Friday at my weekly crop I got a total of 4 1/4 pages done! lol I had two birthdays this next week. So I used one card from my stash to send to my nephew. The second card was for my sister. I can't post it yet as she sometimes checks my blog and I want to her to have the card in person before she sees it on my blog! lol I will post it later (if I remember, you might have to remind me the end of next week! lol) Then I had some CT pages that I needed to complete so I did those next. If you look two posts before this you will see them and also I will post the other pages early next week. (Which would be the first three pages I completed.)

This is the fourth page I completed. It is for the scraplift challenge at Stuff to Scrap. Here is the inspiration for the scraplift. And here is the page I came up with. It's kindof simple, but I think sometimes simple is good. :-)

Just Sassy by Scraps N Pieces and Dream Big Designs

Now you may have wondered what the heck I meant by 1/4 of a page. Well I thought around 11pm "I will do a quickpage, so I can meet my goal of 5 pages completed today." (A quickpage is a page that is already completed all you do it put your picture in it. So I thought I would do that and have another page done "quickly".) When I went in search of one, I found one I TOTALLY loved. However, the picture that I wanted to use in it when I put it on the page all the faces were chopped off!!! lol Uhhhh that didn't work too well. I thought I had the kit that the quickpage was made from so I decided I would just create the same page so it would fit the picture. Yeah if it were only that easy. Nope of course it couldn't be! lol Well, I went to the kit and found out it was only a mini kit, so I didn't have all the pieces to make the page. Great, now what?! lol I went in search of another kit I could use. I started working on it, but it had gotten so late that I decided it was probably a good idea to put it to rest for the night and finish it the next day. And so that I did. I finished it on Saturday and I think it turned out much better than I expected!

SeaSpray by Spinky Dink Scraps

Spinky Dink Scraps has come up with a new kit. It is so out of her comfort zone, but I think it is so pretty! I can think of lots of uses for this kit. Here is the preview.

And here is what I did with this kit. I decided that I prefer the little sparkle that looks like the butterfly trail! I know it is kindof girlie, but I think it works well with the theme that I chose for the page. I also darkened the picture a little (from the SS instructions), I decided it was a little too light and it washed him out.

Ants Go Marching by Spinky Dink Scraps

Have you been looking for a BBQ or picnic kit?! Well here's one for you! It is by Spinky Dink Scraps and includes the grill, burgers, even pickles and the ants marching! lol Check out the preview.

And now my page! I got this done at my Friday online crop. I am LOVING those marching ants! hehehe They are even taking away our food on the bottom of the page. lol Just kidding since we ate inside, to avoid the fire ants and heat we have here in FL.

Speed Scrap #149

There was another speed scrap at STS today. Here are the instructions, took me forever to finish.

STEP 1: Choose only 1 paper and 1 photo (HINT: Your photo will need to be able to be BIG )
STEP 2: Color manipulate your photo. For example: You can desaturate it, use selective coloring, antique it, or use colored filters, etc.
For Photoshop Element users there are some fun actions that manipulate photos HERE.
Photoshop CS users go HERE
NOTE: The links are not required....just an idea of what you can do.
STEP 3: Place your photo on your paper (horizontally or vertically) so that it covers at least two-thirds of the page.
NOTE: If you digital camera does not take picture large enough to cover 2/3rds just place your photo on the page as large as it will go.
STEP 4: Embellish the area around the photo using at least one ribbon and a swirl of some kind. Don't forget to go over and under the photo too.
STEP 5: Add a simple, large title that overlaps both the photo and the paper/embellished area.
STEP 6: Include the date and/or location and any optional journaling.
STEP 7: Add you drop shadows and any finishing touches.

So this is what I came up with first. I had to hurry to finish in time, and I wasn't that thrilled with it but it did meet the steps.

Then I started playing with it some more and came up with this page.
So my question for you is which one do you like the best??? Please be honest as I don't want to print out one that I like when everyone else thinks it looks stupid. (and Yes I tried to combine the two and believe me it DID look stupid! lol)

Speed Scrap #148 at STS

Oh it is so nice to be back and be able to participate in speed scraps again! At least I get SOME scrapping done then! lol Here are the instructions:

Step 1: Select 1 photo that can be selectively colored. To selective color: Duplicate it and turn it black and white. Then use your eraser to erase part of the photo so that the color underneath shows through.
Step 2: We’re using only 3 colors tonight and black and white each count as a color. So find a kit that you like where you can only use 3 colors! You may use shades of the same color (so light blue and a darker blue count as blue). Use one solid paper as your background.
Step 3: Place your photo on the page off to one side. Keep your photo medium sized (about a quarter of the page). Mat your photo with 1 paper from your kit. Then create 6 paper strips behind your photo. You can also use flat ribbons or ric rac in place of paper strips, just make sure you have 6 total. If you have a pattern paper that uses 3 of the colors but also a small amount of a 4th I will allow that.
Step 4: Find an element that is the same color as your background paper (I would recommend a swirly element if you have one) and blend it into your background paper on one of the edges. Play around with the blending modes to see which one you like the best. I used “Color Dodge.” You can duplicate this element as many times as you would like.
Step 5: Create a cluster in one corner of your photo using 5 or 7 elements, one of which has to be something other than a ribbon, string, leaves, flower or button. Duplicated items count towards your total.
Step 6: Stitch your photo on one side. Using 2 of your three colors, create a title. Part of your title should be one color and part of it the other color. If you would like to stroke your title in white, I will allow that too.
Step 7: Add drop shadows and any finishing touches you need.

Here is my LO!

What I got done at the Retreat 2010

Okay sorry for the really long post, but I need to catch up and can't make 10 different posts! ROFL

The first one is "Old Ball Game" by Scraps N Pieces. I was very excited for this vintage baseball kit. When I saw it I thought of the Tampa Yankees game that we saw last year and since it is like the Farm League as opposed to the Major League it seems more vintage for some reason to me! lol I know, I am weird! lol

I made this page while on the airplane from Houston to Cali. I even got in trouble because I was just finishing it up when the plane was getting ready to land, so I was trying to save it and shut everything down and the flight attendant rudely told me, "you need to shut that down now." I told her I was working on it. lol

Anyway, this was after the game was over and Tye was not happy to be going home. lol I am thinking now that maybe I should change the picture to sephia though. It would reinforce the vintage look. I will have to play with it though.

The next CT kit I worked on was Shel Belle Scraps and The Scrappy Kat collab called Boys and Girls of Summer. I LOVE all their elements, I don't think they forgot anything of things kids do during the summer! :-)

This is Shel's preview
Here is Kat's preview
Aren't these dudes adorable?!?!?! I love them! I have lots more pictures that I know I can use to scrap with this kit!
Here are my pages...the first one is of Tye and his cousins...these three are like the three amigos. Always together when we get together. They have so much fun and most of the time play really well together even though there are three of them. That only ends up being a problem once in a very great while. But they sure are cute!

Here's Tye playing on the slide at a park near my parent's house. I am so happy with this page...I made those circle dots myself!!! I created a template and then clipped the paper from the kit to it. Not to try to pat myself on the back, but I just love them and so glad I made it a template that I can use again some time soon! :-)

The next CT kit I worked with was called Let the Good Times Roll, by Scraps N Pieces. It is all about those fun activities that have to do with things rolling...bowling, roller skating, mini golf. Here is the preview of the kit.

Tye just went to a birthday party at a bowling alley so I had lots of pictures from that. I did narrow it down to a two page LO, but only one used this kit, the other used a birthday kit, but I TRIED to match the colors, not sure how well it turned out though! lol Here is the good little bowler! lol

Here is the second page. See doesn't that aqua color go together?!?!?! lol About the only color that does, but what can I do, I needed some birthday stuff for the pictures.

Celebrate by Stolen Moments
The next page is almost a literal scraplift. It is the kit I used a while ago from Spinky Dink Scraps called Dream Big. Some one else made this layout and I completely stole it. I absolutely loved the LO and thought it was PERFECT for these pictures that were almost identical to the girl's pictures.
Dream Big by Spinky Dink Scraps and Litabelle
Next up...some pictures I took last year at Splash Park, the little water park at Tye's Pre-K school. He even had his birthday party there about a month after these pictures were taken. The kids had an absolute blast! They were running around like crazy kids!
Template by Red Leaf DigiScrapping
Page two of this layout. Here are all the kids sitting on the bench waiting for the water to recycle and start again. And the two smaller pics were the segragation of the boys and girls the next water recycle period! lol They were too funny, the boys went over and sat on the water holes and the girls went and sat on the bench. They were too funny.

Backyard Splash by Jady Day Studio
Kid figures from Laurie's Scraps Summer Fun kit
Saturday morning I spent a good portion of the morning showing Carol how to do digital scrapping. It took a bit longer because she only has Photoshop, not PSE and so there was a little bit of a learning curve for me too. But we got it figured out and I showed her how to do one page and then she created a page with me helping her. They turned out great and she feels more comfortable with it. I wish there had been more time so I could show Cherie how to do it too. I guess there is always the phone and next year! lol
I had these old pics that Laura had put on a CD from Christmas and I took them with me. So I found a template and this kit that had blue in it even though it was a Christmas kit, I knew it was perfect for this picture!
This is my sister, Stephanie and I sitting on Santa's lap, who just happens to be my dad, but we didn't know it then. I love the faded look of the other pictures! This was a great template! And I really like the little character/scene at the bottom!
