What I did tonight 102808

I decided to try to do something tonight scrapbooking wise before I went to bed. So here is what I completed. I should have been in bed a long time ago. But oh well. I will get to bed as soon as I finish this post. :-)

I wanted to scrap this picture tonight (there was also another one, but it wasn't as cute, so I decided to just use this one). So I started looking for something and I had just downloaded the alpha for a kit called Sweet Lilac by Sara at Sweet Blossom Designs (you can see her website here http://sweetblossomdesigns.blogspot.com/ and pick up the freebie kit if you wish). I think the colors worked perfectly with the picture and I am very pleased with how it turned out! Thanks Sara for a great kit!

Bagalope and Singing Time Props

Last night a couple of the girls from my scrapbooking team on SparkPeople.com wanted to go into the online chat room that we have for our team and chat while they watched the Penn State-Ohio State game. So since I didn't get to join in for much of the day yesterday because of the Halloween party prep, I decided I would join in too and watch the World Series Game! lol

So during the crop/chat I was getting my singing time props ready for church. I teach the kids music. So I had gotten an idea from something that was in the book I got when I started doing this job. It had an apron with some pockets on it that were drawn on. In the pockets you were to put popsicle sticks or papers with songs names on it depending on the subject is what pocket the song went in. Anyway, even though I would like to do that, with all the abuse charges nowadays, I just felt it was best to not do something where the kids would be sticking their hands into something that I was actually wearing. So I was trying to figure out something different. I came up with the idea of having a spinner and that would be the subject they would have to draw a song out of.

So I got that all created and got the labels for the subjects figured out. But my main problem was figuring out what container to put the songs in (and the labels on). Mind you this was about 11:00pm Saturday night (I had to have this for church at 9am this morning). So I asked the ladies on the chat (thank heavens we were on the chat while I was doing this....God works in mysterious ways sometimes!). The only thing I could come up with was styrofoam cups. Unless I wanted my DH to go buy some paper bags (since he works nights right next to Walmart, he could go on his break). But the styrofoam cups seemed tacky (even though they said it wasn't too bad) and the paper bags would mean spending money and asking my husband to go do it during his break, but hopefully before midnight since we don't shop on Sundays.

Thankfully, Tracy had an EXCELLENT idea! She said, "you can make a bagalope." I said, HUH??? "What is a bagalope?" She provided this link http://www.stampin-pad.com/bagalope.htm So I went and read it. Basically, in case you don't care how or what it is too much, lol, an envelope made into a bag! Pretty easy, especially after you get the hang of it. Plus you can make it as simple or elegant as you want. Since it was already late enough I knew I just had to get them done so mine are simple! lol Here is one of the bags (probably one I will change since the subject is limited to only 5 songs! lol).

And here is the final project with the spinner and all the bags.

Again, THANK YOU TRACY!!!

S2L Challenge 10/17-10/24 and a Halloween invitation

This week's challenge was to use polka dots or circles in your LO. I had no idea which LO it would end up on, but I knew I would easily be able to complete the challenge.

On Sunday I decided to complete another snow LO for my Utah Trip for Christmas 2006/New Years 2007 Album. I knew the pictures, I knew what I was going to use for the title and I knew that I was going to use a real photo scrapbook paper of trees with snow on them. But I didn't know what I was going to do for the actual LO or what I would use for the base paper. So I looked through my stash of embellishments, ribbons (I thought I had one that had snowflakes on it but I thought it was blue, turns out it was green with snowflakes on it. ARGH that wasn't going to work because my vision was for a powder blue background). So I continued looking and went to my DCWV Christmas stack pack. I found some paper that I really thought would look great in the end (not at all what I originally had envisioned!) and guess what??? The paper is polka dots...green! So guess what else, I get to use the green ribbon with snowflakes! I also got to use my cricut for the snowflakes. It was a trial and error as I wasn't really sure what size to use or how to get the size I wanted for the page. But in the end I think it turned out great!

Today I also made some Halloween invitations for our party on Friday (okay I know nothing like waiting until the last minute, but we just decided last Saturday and I did send some of them regular premade invitations to the people I didn't talk to). So for those I did talk to I decided to make my own! Once again I broke out the cricut and Design Studio! I made pumpkins and used Design Studio to weld the letters together for Halloween Party! I am very pleased with the outcome. Except I still need to learn somethings about shapes as I didn't feel like the pumpkins looked exactly right. Oh well, it still looks good I think! So here that is too!

Crop 10/17 and S2L Challenge 10/10-10/17

I, of course, wanted to get a lot more done than this, but alas this is all I completed! lol

I first worked on some more snow pages from our Utah trip in Jan 2007. So here are the pages for this!

Then I also worked on this week's challenge which was Christmas in October. Last year we went to Christmas Lane. It is a huge farm where this guy has soooooooooooo many Christmas decorations. A Santa's tent with an elf and all sorts of HUGE toys. He has a little train the kids can ride on. He has a nativity scene. A sleigh. A GIANT tree.....there is a pic of PART of it on the page. A very fun evening! We are definitely going again this year!

If I get more done I will post it later!

S2L Scrapbook Challenge 10/3-10/10

This week's challenge was to use a pumpkin on our layout. Well it took me longer than normal because I had found a digital scrapbook kit blog train (okay I know some of you have no idea what I am saying. But basically you go to a ton of different blogs and each blog has a part of the kit.) So I have spend the last week downloading free kits. I finally finished last night and now was prepared to create my layout! Here it is, I hope you like it!

What I completed at the crop on 10/10/08

I completed this LO for my Utah trip album. I also completed 5 pages for Kevin and I's weight loss scrapbook. However, since those are private I am not posting any pics for it.

I downloaded some digital stuff and chatted more than I should! lol

And I used my cricut to cut out some numbers to put on my 50 pounds lost pages. Oh I don't know if ever posted those because I didn't "complete" them! I will post these, even though they are part of my weight loss album, because I have already blogged the whole thing, so there is nothing secret about these pages! lol So here they are!

Completed at Crop 10/3/08

Not only did I complete the Birthday Challenge LO in the post below but I also completed 2 other LOs!

The first one is part of my Utah Trip over Christmas 2006/New Years 2007. We spent Jan 3rd swimming at a cool indoor pool (see post for Challenge 9/19-9/26). Then on Jan 4th it finally snowed! We drove to a park in Brigham City, UT and let the kids have at it. I have a million pictures from that day. So I am trying to purge some and creating layouts of the others! Hard when I really did end up with so many cute pictures!

The second one is just a 1 page LO. This was on New Years Eve. We went to a little party and during the night they had a gift exchange where you steal presents and all that stuff. Well Ty had gotten a set of DragonTales books at one point. He loved them and was very quick to entertain himself by looking at them. But then my nephew stole them from him. Ty was so sad, luckily he ended up with a Winnie the Pooh bouncey ball. I finished the title for it today.

Update: I also wanted everyone to know I actually ended up finding the books at my local DollarTree last year so he has his very own set (which is where I got the DragonTale stuff from, I just scanned it in from the front cover of the books and then cut it out!) Thanks for your sweet concerns! I am glad it all worked out in the end. And I didn't want anyone to think I thought my nephew was mean, it was just part of the game and they are the same age so they both wanted the same thing! lol

S2L Challenge 9/26-10/3

This week's challenge was to complete a birthday layout or use brown on your LO. I chose the birthday layout. I had to find my pictures first of course. lol And I really wanted to put a present on it but couldn't find a digi one and didn't want to waste time looking for one. So I used the train and wagon instead and I think it turned out great!

Here it is:
