Friday Night Chat SS 043010

Tonight we decided to do a Speed Scrap in the chat room. It was kindof my chat room project, but I am still feeling guilty about it. :-(

Anyway, here are the instructions:
#1 - Choose 1 Picture and 3 papers, 2 plain and 1 patterned.
#2 - Layer the 3 papers with the patterned paper sandwiched between the 2 plain.
#3 - Put the picture in one corner of the top paper with a textural item underneath: glitter, mesh or bead spill type thing.
#4 - Attach the picture to the paper with the fastener of your choice, stitches, staples, clips etc.
#5 - Add a feature element, just one, in a different corner than the picture.
#6 - Add a small cluster in the corner with the picture. Between the picture and the edge of the paper. Also add 1 or 2 ribbons or ricrac somehow touching your picture.
#7 - Give your layout a title, journal, date

And here is my LO of our brand new puppy!!! :-)

Sunflower Patch by Bits N Bobs

Bits N Bobs has a new kit out called Sunflower Patch!!! OH YEAH BABY!! lol This kit was made for me. Well not because of me, but well, if you know me you know I love sunflowers, which is why my blog has the name it does! lol This was so easy for me to make layouts for.

My mom sent me this poem on a poster when I was on my mission in California. I have it hanging in my kitchen. So I knew I wanted to use it on one of these layouts. This picture is from my SP friend Pam. She had these frowing in her yard two years ago and took the pictures special for me since she knows I am a sunflower lover! lol
This next one is from pictures of sunflowers my other SP friend Amy sent me. Amy is my fellow sunflower lover! lol So she sent this to me awhile ago and I have it in my picture slide show on my desktop. Anyway, this also meets the scraplift challenge at Stuff to Scrap.

My final layout is of my Sp friend Amy or as the title says my Sunflower Soul Sisser! (Yep sisser, not sister. Our group was called Sisterhood of the Traveling Crops, but when one of the girls wrote the name down as Sisserhood instead of Sisterhood, it kindof stuck and now we all just call each other "sissers").

Hope you like the kit and my layouts as much as I do!

My Life Challenge Week 16 4/18-4/24

This week's challenge was to scrap something that our child has an attachment to. Well Tye doesn't really have anything that he must have at any time. He goes from thing to thing but nothing that he can't live without. I never really had anything either, that I know of at least. However, my sister did. She had blanket that my grandmother made and she drug that thing around everywhere. Poor blanket seriously got run through the ringer. lol She even rescued it from the garbage can one time! lol So I did my LO of that. :-)

SS# 121 at Stuff to Scrap

So this one was a real challenge for me.....here are the instructions and then I will tell you why...

1. Choose one photo and alter it in some way. You can change the colors in it or even just crop it as long as it is not the same photo you started with.
2. Choose 3 different papers. One must be a patterned paper. Somehow make 2 of the papers your background.
3. Use the 3rd paper to mat your photo. Tilt your photo so it is not straight on the page.
4. Use some bits of any paper you wish around/behind your photo.
5. Use as many elements as you want but make sure you have at least 2 ribbons, 1 button, and 1 stitch.
6. Make a title on your page that is at least 3 words long. Use at least 2 fonts in your title.
7. Now add the finishing touches. Add drop shadows and don’t forget to add a little bit of journaling.

Okay so see step #4...what the heck are "bits of paper"?! I didn't know, so I made little rectangles like torn strips of tiny bits of paper! ROFL And made it part of my bead spill. Well I think it turned out okay in the end! lol

So here is my page. :-)

Boy Oh Boy by Spinky Dink Scraps and simply.scraps

Lindsay has come out with another kit this weekend. She has a dual one, boy and girl. Of course I used the boy one! lol It is called Boy Oh Boy! lol So here is the preview of the kit.

I was trying to decide on a picture to scrap for this kit and was going through what was on my desktop in folders (basically the last year) and remembered this one of the guys on Easter at Oma and Opa's house. They were so engrossed in their show we couldn't get them to answer any questions! lol

And immediately when I saw the kit I thought of a more patriotic feel. So I scrapped some 4th of July pictures too. So see it can be more than just a boy kit! lol

So head on over to Lindsay's blog at Spinky Dink Scraps and see how you can get this kit for yourself!

Hoppit by Bits N Bobs

Bits N Bobs has another kit out called Hoppit. This is great to scrap your Easter layouts, or any other layout as you will see below.

Here is the preview of the kit.

And here is what I have done with it.

See they don't HAVE to be Easter and they still look great (if you ask me! lol) So head on over to Bits N Bobs' blog and find out how to get this kit yourself!

Speed Scrap #118 at STS

I participated in speed scrap the other night at Stuff to Scrap. I love these, they are addicting and I love how different my pages turn out.

Here are the instructions for this one:
Step 1: Choose 4-5 Papers and 2 pictures
Step 2: Select one paper as your background, layer the second paper so that at least one side touches an edge of your layout
Step 3: Cut papers 3 and 4 into similar shapes no more than half the height or width of your layout, layer them and place them so at least one side of each is touching an edge of your layout
Step 4: Cut pictures to the same size and place them side by side on top of papers 3 and 4
Step 5: Cut paper 5 into a ring OR use a circular frame element and place it so that it goes over (or under) one picture and completely around the other picture
Step 6: Choose 1-3 elements and place them on the lower left corner of your left hand picture then duplicate the elements and place them on the upper right corner of the right hand picture
Step 7: Add a title, journaling, drop shadows, etc to complete your layout

And what I came up with....let's just say it looks NOTHING like the original that the instructions were based from. But I still like it!

March Card Club

So it has been brought to my attention by my friend Amanda, that I forgot to post the cards we did for card club last month! OOPS! lol So without further ado here they are! lol

The top on is by Karina, we used water color pencils and the blender pen to color the stamped image. Also we stamped the leaves on the card, isn't that cool?!

The next one is by the newest member of our group, Wendy. She is so creative, she actually got the flowers from the ones on the stems and just popped them off. DUH, why didn't I think of doing that?! lol

The top one in this picture is by a not new to the group, but the first time she has actually attended hehehehe, Kara. She actually HAND sewed the buttons on to the paper! How awesome is that?!

And the last one if from my fellow cricut lover, Amanda, lol She cut everything out with the cricut and then we put it together. Isn't that birdie so cute?! And we used the Martha Stewart glitter. I used the tourqoise glitter and it just sparkles! I keep forgetting but I did the leaves backwards so they have a bit of glue on them so I keep saying I am going to "stickle" the leaves to cover up the glue. lol

Jennie is my hero. She has the patience of a saint because I would never be able to figure out these pop-up cards that she keeps doing! They are so adorable and I am glad she has done all the work for me and I just have to put it together and then get the credit when I send them out! lol Thanks Jennie!

Isn't that flower nifty?! I think it is great!

And finally my card. It is a tri-fold card. It ended up a big bigger than I thought it was going to be, but I think it is cool! You can't see all the papers that I used because of the angle I took this at, but there were three different ones on the inside.

So there you have it. And card club for April is next week already and this is the very first month that I do not have something at least in mind already. I am a little stressed about this one. Not sure what I am going to do at all! YIKES! I better figure out something super quick though! lol If you have any cute, and semi simple ideas please pass them my way so I can do it for this month! lol

Lilac Love by Shel Belle Scraps

Shel Belle Scraps has out her newest monochromatic monthly kit starting today. It is called Lilac Love. All purple and white!! So pretty!!!! You can get it starting today on her blog. :-)

Here is my page. I took all of the wedding photos from our family and make them into one layout. It was part of a speed scrap and actually turned out awesome! I am so happy with it and then I used a bevel to make it looks like tiles! I totally love this layout!!
Then my mom is a HUGE purple fan, so I decided to create a layout of her using this kit. (This also fits in the S2L Challenge of putting a quote on your page.)
So if you like purple run over to Shel's blog and get the first part of the kit this Sunday and then the remaining Sundays of April! :-)

SS#117 at STS

I participated in another speed scrap today at Stuff to Scrap! Here are the instructions:

STEP 1: PICK OUT 2 PICTURES FROM THE SAME EVENT AND PICK OUT 3 PAPERS.

STEP 2: USE 1 FOR YOUR BACKGROUND, CUT A CIRCLE OUT OF THE OTHER PAPER, AND USE THE 3RD PAPER HOWEVER YOU WANT, BUT IT MUST BE UNDER YOUR PICTURES.

STEP 3: PUT YOUR PICTURES ON YOUR PAGE. MAKE 1 SMALLER THAN THE OTHER. CLIP OR HANG THE LARGER PICTURE INTO PLACE AND SET THE SMALLER PICTURE SLIGHTLY ON TOP OF A CORNER OF THE LARGER PICTURE.

STEP 4: PUT YOUR CIRCLE PAPER UNDER YOUR PICTURES, AND YOUR OTHER PAPER UNDER YOUR PICTURES.

STEP 5: ADD 10 STAPLES AROUND YOUR CIRCLE PAPER.

ROFL - APRIL FOOLS!

The real step is as follows: STEP 5: USING AT LEAST 3 FLOWERS AND STRING, MAKE A LITTLE CLUSTER ON TOP OF YOUR PICTURES.

STEP 6: JOURNAL ON A SOLID PAPER PIECE OR TAG AND PUT NEAR OR WITH YOUR PICTURES. DON'T FORGET THE DATE- ANYWHERE ON YOUR LAYOUT.

STEP 7: ADD ONE OR TWO OTHER EMBELLISHMENTS OF YOUR CHOICE, DROP SHADOWS AND SAVE

Some people actually did the April Fools step! lol Oh and some even liked it so much they actually kept the results of the April Fools Step! lol While I like the way the page turned out, I must say I like the kit I used even more! It is soooo adorable! lol But here is my result!
