New York, New York by Scraps N Pieces

Scraps N Pieces has another "city" kit out. This time they are focusing on New York! I was super excited because I have done NOTHING with the pictures we took when we went to NYC with my sister Laura, and her husband Marvin and then my other sister, Sally and her husband Max met us later on there. So I will show you a few pages but watch this spot for more! :-)

So back to the kit. Here is a full preview, there is stuff for the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, taxi cabs, Radio City Music Hall, Broadway, "the Big Apple". It is a great variety and hits just about every main tourist spot in the big city! :-) It is a definite must have for those that have ever been to NYC or are planning on going there any time soon! :-)

And here are my pages. Originally this was a one pager, but then I found some more pictures and scanned them in and used them. We were lucky enough to be able to go to Ground Zero on the 4th anniversary. It was crazy being there that day. I choose not to remember the RUDE people who were protesting things and focus on the real sites and sounds. The families were the and the names were being read of those that were lost. There were police officers and fire fighters who survived. There was one man in particular I will never forget, who was standing in a little "nook" in the fence just sobbing. Later we overheard him talking about how he was a fireman and had lost most of his friends that day. It was heart wrenching.

Sorry the pictures kindof stink since this was before digital cameras actually worked decently. I have a few digital pictures but most of them are regular 35mm pictures! lol

And this was of Kevin and I's adventure to the Empire State Building. I am going to toot my own horn here, but I love how I have cropped the picture I took from the bottom of the building up and used it as part of the background on this page! :-)

So like I said, if you are in need of a New York kit, this one is a great one to have! It is $2.50 for the first week and if you use coupon code SNPcsNYNY you can get the cardstock pack for just $1! So head on over the Stuff to Scrap to get this one for yourself! :-)

Chat Room Project--Candle 091710

Vanessa led us in a chat room project tonight. The instructions were super easy and I am definitely going to make some more (gotta buy more candles, should have done it when I bought this one...but kindof glad cause I never thought to use the dollar store to get them and at Walmart they were like 2 or 3 dollars.)

Here is my candle...I am sorry the picture is kindof cruddy. But it turned out really cute! :-)

Thanks Vanessa! I love it and am going to do some more...maybe for teacher or other people gifts for Christmas! :-)

Down by the Bay by Scraps N Pieces

Scraps N Pieces are certainly keeping me busy, but the kits are so darn cool that I don't mind it one bit!!!! This week they are releasing a kit called Down by the Bay. It is a kit to scrap those San Francisco pictures! (Of course as most kits it can be used for other things!) Here is a preview of the entire kit.
So here is my story, cause you know I always have one! lol In 1994, when I was a Senior in HS, I went to the National BPA (Business Professionals of America) convention that was held in San Francisco. I KNOW I took pictures while we were there, but I have NO CLUE where they are! I looked where I thought they were, with the pictures I took the year before when I went to NYC while I was in HS, but they weren't there. So I don't know. I then called my aunt as she was on that same trip, but she was unable to get any pictures to me. LUCKILY, I was on chat on Friday and asked one of the other girls Cherie if she has any pictures and she DID!! WOOHOO! Love my sissers!!!! So I told her if she would send me some I would scrap them for her.

This is what I came up with...her picture of Alcatraz!
And her GORGEOUS pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge.

So if you want to grab this kit for yourself. Head on over to Stuff to Scrap and pick up this kit for yourself! Oh and if you use coupon code SNPbayCS you can get the cardstock for $1 to go along with it!

SS #167 at Stuff to Scrap

I participated in another speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap Thursday night. I almost forgot about it but, remembered with only 30 mins left to complete it! YIKES! lol But that's okay because then I have all the instructions and can typically get it done earlier, plus I am not in the chat getting sidetracked! lol

Anyway, here are the instructions, I really like them because they were simple, but the LOs all turned out sooooo cute. But very similar this time, unlike usual. Okay I will stop babbling! lol

1 - choose 3 pictures or 1 picture that you can repeat twice to make 3 - alter the photos by making either black and white, sepia, or selective recoloring
2 - choose 1 plainish paper and place as your background, pick a vine or branch with leaves or swirly element and place at the bottom of your page on the left side, make it so part of it is hanging off the bottom of the page, please shadow everything as you go
3 - duplicate your last element 2 or 3 more times and place across the bottom of your page to fill it up with all of them hanging partly off the page, you can rotate at different angles
4 - Pick 3 flowers - place on the left most vine somewhere
5 - duplicate each of those flowers 3 or 4 more times and place on the other vines across the bottom of your page - you can change the sizes
6 - mat, frame or stroke your photos and "tuck" them into the flowers and vines across the bottom of your page lined up horizontally, they can be tilted.
7 - add a one word title and the date.

And here is the page I came up with:
