More quilts

As many of you know, I make a quilt for each of my nieces and nephews for their first Christmas (or at least try to. I didn't do it for the first two until they were probably 3 or 4 years old and the ones that were born last year I was just plain a slacker and never got them made until April of this year.) Anyway, this year since I have been watching the baby I decided to make one for him too. When I went to JoAnns one day I found this darling cars/trucks material (and it was on sale so I bought it for sure!). Here is the result.

This quilt is for my niece. I found this ADORABLE cupcake material and fell in love with it. I knew this is what I wanted to use for her quilt. Well I always put a flannel on the back cause I think it is more fun to snuggle with flannel than regular material. So I started wandering trying to find material for the back and found this green with white polka dots material that matched the wrappers for some of the cupcakes. I TOTALLY loved it together, BUT it was not flannel. So I kept searching and found the pink material you see below that was flannel. But I could NOT part with that green and white polka dots. So I was with my friend and she said, "why don't you do blocks on the back and use both?" I was like, "hmmmm, I could maybe do that". I was a little nervous about it, but figured I would try. So I started making it and got the back put together and then got it all sewn together and I fell in love with it! I am so proud of myself being courageous enough to try something new. I think it came out great, but of course I am a little partial as it is my work! lol
So what do you think about the quilts? Did you make anything for Christmas gifts? I think it is fun to make homemade gifts that are made specifically for each person.
